Korolev Will Be in Camp

Although it will probably be short term, Yaroslav Korolev did sign a make-good contract with the Clippers today and will report to camp in Santa Barbara.  Here's the release from the Clippers communications department:

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent forward Yaroslav Korolev. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Originally drafted by the Clippers in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft, Korolev has appeared in a total of 34 games over two seasons for Los Angeles, averaging 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds per game in his NBA career.

The 20-year old Russian native will join the Clippers at training camp in Santa Barbara.

As we've said before, the only way that Korolev can make the team is if the Clippers choose to waive someone with a guaranteed contract, not something they've done a lot of under owner Donald T. Sterling.  From a basketball standpoint, it might make sense to keep Korolev over veteran Aaron Williams, especially if coach MDsr is serious about this 'uptempo' thing.  But don't count on it.
