Livingston's Surgery Set for Tuesday

All I know about this is what I read in the AP story.  Hopefully we'll get more in the LA papers tomorrow.

This guy in Alabama had better be the best.  I mean, don't we usually send individuals needing complicated and delicate surgeries FROM Alabama TO California?  Something seems a little bass-ackwards here.

Update [2007-3-9 13:4:29 by ClipperSteve]: I guess I'm just a southern California snob.  I thought Kerlan and Jobe were still the superstars of this stuff.  Here's a NYT article from a few years back on Dr. James Andrews.

Andrews is the top jock doc, the reigning medical superstar to the superstars. An autograph dealer could set up a franchise outside his office at the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. Over the past several years his client list has ranged from Troy Aikman to Charles Barkley to Scottie Pippen to Jack Nicklaus. Jane Fonda was known to drop by to have a knee looked at. Last year, the wrestlers Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and Sting left autographed photos for his office wall.
More recently he worked on Donovan McNabb.
