Clipper Fan Moments - This Time, There's a Prize

I'm going to try something I've never done before here at ClipsNation.  A contest!  With an actual prize.  A prize you might actually like.

It's not always easy
Worst Franchise
A short while ago I related a story about having to explain to relatives why I was a Clipper fan, of course suffering the humiliating anonymity and ignominy that comes with the territory.  Anyone who has ever worn a Clippers T-shirt or cap in this purple and gold town (or worse yet, in another town) has no doubt suffered similarly.  I call these Clipper Fan Moments - those times when you have to decide whether you're going to try to explain something that probably can't be put into words, or just smile and nod at all the lame jokes told at your favorite teams' expense.

Well, in an attempt to better use the features of this fancy-schmancy interwebs site, I would like for all of you Citizens of ClipsNation to enter your best Clipper Fan Moments in the Diaries.  I'm hoping that it will generate some more interest in these last few weeks before training camp starts, and maybe some of you who are lurkers will come out into the light and share your insights (no doubt brilliant) with the rest of us.

To add a little incentive, our friends at Barry's Tickets are putting up a couple of pairs of tickets as prizes.  The best story (as voted on by the Citizens) will receive two tickets to the second home game of the season, November 4 versus Seattle (Kevin Durant, ooooh).  The runner-up story will receive two tickets to the first home pre-season game on October 18 versus Phoenix.

Here's how it will work:  we'll collect entries from now until September 30th (that's a little over 3 weeks).  We already have a few (from John R, pipedreams and CLiPPz WeRD 42).  If you have more than one story, that's fine.  You can enter as many as you wish, but I'll probably make you pick your favorite to put into the voting.  If you don't have a story, make something up!  This ain't Oprah.  What do I care if you're telling the truth? A good story is a good story. And don't worry - I'll disqualify myself.  So while obviously none of you can compete with my hilarious and spellbinding anecdotes, you won't actually have to.

Beginning October 1, you will be able to vote for your favorite Clipper Fan Moments in a series of ClipsNation polls, until we have a winner.  Hopefully we can generate enough activity to make it really interesting.  And if no one cares and so no one participates, then I will be sad and probably cry, and you don't want that, now do you?  I slave and I slave to bring you this blog, and this is the thanks I get!

Even if you're already a season ticket holder, you should participate, if only for bragging rights.  Besides, who couldn't use a couple extra tickets?

So, start typing up those Diaries, and share your Clipper Fan angst with all the rest of us.  There's strength in dysfunctional numbers!

The Clipper Fan Moment Contest

First Prize - Two tickets to Clippers v. Sonics, November 4
Second Prize - Two tickets to Clippers v. Suns, October 18 (Pre-season)

Rules - Rules?  In a knife fight?  There are no rules!  Just click on 'Post New Diary' (a diary is really just another blog entry, only created by you, so it's probably not as good as the stuff I write) and type in your best Clipper Fan Moment.  Entries must be received by Sunday, September 30th, at midnight PT.  Voting begins October 1.  Voting will be conducted on ClipsNation polls.
