Since the 1987 playoffs (the first season for which box scores are available), there have been 66 playoff games in which one of the teams has shot under 33% from the field. 61 of those teams have lost. In other words, the Lakers are only the fifth team in the last 23 years to shoot worse the 33% and win a playoff game, and in one of the games (Indiana 73, Miami 70 in 2004) both teams were under 33%, so someone had to win.
Only six times in Finals history has a team shot worse than 33%, and the Lakers are the first team to do so and manage to win.
