Clippers Cruise in Milwaukee, 111-85

The Clippers had three players with double-doubles and everyone scored as they won easily in Milwaukee.

There's not a whole lot to write about for this game... basically everything went right and the Clippers beat a good team by 26 on the road. So... there's that. Here's some details you should know.

  • Barnes Beasting: Matt Barnes takes home the game ball today, with 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, a block, and- oh yeah, 21 points on 8-10 shooting. Matty played a team-high 29 minutes and he seemed to be making plays all over the court- getting out in transition, finishing on back cuts, and blocking away a shot that looked like 2 points for the Bucks. Also, Barnes had at least 2 fouls that were on purpose to stop fast breaks- smart plays. This is the second game this season that he led the team in scoring.
  • Starters Resting: Again, the Clippers had no player with more than 30 minutes, and Blake Griffin and Chris Paul were able to stay at 27 and 26 minutes, respectively. All 11 healthy Clippers played, and everyone except for Ryan Hollins played 17 minutes or more.
  • Lamar Odom Makes Jumpers: After shooting a measly 9.1% on three point attempts this season, Lamar Odom was 2-2 from deep tonight, and also had a long two, to form a nice statline of 10 points, 5 rebounds, an assist, and a block. Before the game, Odom told Clippers announcers Ralph Lawler and Mike Smith that he "wanted to get 20 [wins] in a row". An easy win tonight gets Lamar one closer to that goal.
  • Three double-doubles: Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan all had double-doubles tonight in under 30 minutes. Paul had 10 points and 13 assists to go with 2 rebounds and 2 steals, Griffin had 18 points and 11 rebounds to go with 2 steals and an assists, and Jordan had 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists. Paul and Griffin now have 10 double-doubles on the season, and Jordan had his fourth. No other Clipper has recorded a double-double on the season.
  • Balanced Scoring: All 11 Clippers players scored at least 4 points tonight, and all made at least 2 field goals. 6 Clippers had in between 6 and 10 points... that adds up pretty quickly.
  • Interior passing: At one point in the 3rd quarter, Blake Griffin had a nice play where he drove, pump faked the defender, and then dumped the ball off to DeAndre Jordan for a dunk. That was a great play but not uncharacteristic of Blake. The next play, however, was a little more special. Jordan got the ball at about 12 feet on the right block and threw a bounce pass to the cutting Griffin for a second consecutive dunk. Not a bad sequence that demonstrates the special relationship between these two young big men.
  • Rebounding: Despite having a low rebound average as a team of 41 per game, the Clippers won the rebounding battle tonight, 49-40. Griffin and Jordan each had 11 boards, while Barnes and Turiaf pitched in 5 apiece off the bench.
  • Assists: The Clippers had 33 assists on 44 made field goals. 8 of the 11 active players recorded an assist, and Paul led the team with 14. Bledsoe and Crawford each had 5 off of the bench.
  • Road Excellence: They're 4-1 on the road when they lead on the road after the first quarter. Furthermore, this was the largest Clipper road win on the season to date. The previous best was half of tonight's margin- 13 points in Portland.
  • Division standings: The Warriors won tonight as well, so the Clippers couldn't gain any ground, but LAC maintained a 1.5 game lead for sole possession of first place. The Lakers, Suns, and Kings are way back- 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5 games out of first, respectively.
  • Conference Standings: The Clippers are still in 3rd place after tonight's win, 1 game out of second (SAS) and 2 games out of first (OKC). The Clippers maintain a 1 game lead over Memphis.
  • The Streak Lives: The Clippers extended their winning streak to 9 tonight- that's the largest streak in Los Angeles Clippers history, and ties the longest in San Diego Clippers history. The Buffalo Braves won 11 in a row in the 74-75 season.
  • Next Game: The Clippers close their 4 game road trip as they look for 10 wins in a row in Detroit on Monday night. Thread at 4:15 PST, game starts at 4:30 PST
