Well, I had my back turned last night. After all the exciting free agent stuff, after the incredibly dull summer league, and before the I'm-not-really-interested-yet Olympic team begins it's thunderous march down the gauntlet, there was suddenly, a tidal wave of Clipper-related news last night.
Well... not a tidal wave but... there was some news.
Clippers, Ronny Turiaf agree to a deal - latimes.com Citizen C'sUp had it late last night and there were over a hundred comments before I saw it... and I haven't read a single one. In my opinion, Turiaf's an okay big body at the end of the bench. He can rebound a little but he's not much of a banger. I can't help but compare him to Reggie Evans, whom I like better, except at the free-throw line. He comes in at the vet's min so no biggy. One of the great all-time towel wavers.
Petros and Money Media Vault - Fox Sports Radio - from C. wavyballer. Go down the page, click the picture. Hill's affable, intelligent. Terrific. Love love love Grant Hill.
CLIPPERS ANNOUNCE 2012-13 PRESEASON SCHEDULE - from the king of the capslock C. HVYDRT007. Clips are going to Vegas! Then China! Beijing and Shanghai here they come! Personally I hate this. I hope they leave Blake, and CP3 at home.
623301688.png (1236×1600) from C. Jonee. Top row, third from the left. Clips with blue unis. They have Derrick Rose wearing one in red. It looks all shiny. I'm excited about this. No, actually I'm not. I like the Clips in red, and white, I like white too.
Jazz Rotation: Are Mo Williams and Randy Foye, as a backcourt, lesser than the sum of their individual parts? - SLC Dunk from the great C. PVMike. Hey, guess what? Randy Foye and Mo Williams are someone else's problem. I'm going to address Salt Lake fans now: Mo Williams is a good shooter, but can't defend a fire hydrant. Randy Foye is streaky and needs to start. He's useless off the bench.
T'wolves near $20 million deal with Andrei Kirilenko - Yahoo! Sports from C. indy818. The T'wolves cleared salary-cap room to sign Andrei Kirilenko in a deal that sent Robin Lopez to the Hornets. I don't know what I think of this. 10M a year seems a heavy price to pay for an aging AK47. But you gotta spend money to make money... and Love, Pekovic, Kirilenko, Rubio, and the ghost of Brandon Roy will make for some interesting watching.
ShamSports.com: NBA News That Doesn't Really Matter: Without Looking, Guess Which Seven Teams Have Never Paid The Luxury Tax The delightful Mark Deeks checks in with another oddball look at the NBA salary situation. You have to download a spreadsheet and I don't have Excel on the computer in my office, so I don't know the answer to the quiz. I know ONE of the names.
Which NBA teams did best in the 2012 free agent market - from SheridanHoops. Chris Sheridan made an idiot out of himself last December and I am only slowly beginning to forgive him. This is from Moke Hamilton who lists the top five teams that restocked and reshuffled best. Who do you think wins his little contest?
