NBA Trade Deadline: Suns reunite Morris twins

The Phoenix Suns, perhaps hoping to relive the glory days of Dick and Tom Van Arsdale, have acquired Marcus Morris from the Houston Rockets for a second round draft pick. The move reunites Marcus with his twin brother Markieff Morris for the first time since the two left Kansas.

The Morris twins were the 13th and 14th picks in the 2011 draft. Markieff got his opportunity to play sooner in Phoenix, but Marcus had cracked Houston's rotation this season.

The move is a bit of a head scratcher for the the Rockets, who simultaneously dealt Patrick Patterson to the Kings for Thomas Robinson. Patterson and Morris were splitting time at power forward in Houston, with Patterson getting 38 starts so far this season and Morris starting the other 17 games. The Rockets were turning both of them into stretch fours in their spread offense that opens the floor for James Harden and Jeremy Lin to drive to the basket or kick to shooters. With Morris and Patterson gone, the Rockets are left with a slew of little-used rookies capable of playing the four --Robinson, Terrence Jones, Royce White and Donatas Motiejunas -- and not much else. They went small in their game against Oklahoma City last night, playing Chandler Parsons at power forward.

As for the Suns, who knows what they're doing. Marcus Morris could be a decent player, but he seems to duplicate what Markieff does -- almost literally.
