NBA Trade Deadline: Jordan Crawford for Leandro Barbosa

The Washington Wizards traded Jordan Crawford to the Boston Celtics for Leandro Barbosa, who is injured and out for the season.

We haven't seen anything remotely big on this trade deadline so far, but some smaller deals are now starting to filter through. The Boston Celtics have acquired shooting guard Jordan Crawford from the Washington Wizards for the injured Leandro Barbosa. Barbosa is out for the season with a torn ACL and is in the final year of his contract, so Washington essentially did this deal to get rid of Crawford and little more. (When all the details emerge, I expect that some money will go from Boston to Washington as well.) The Wizards now have Bradley Beal and apparently want nothing more to do with Crawford, who started about half the games he played for the Wizards.

Crawford is a chucker, no more, no less. He can score, but he can't do much else, and he doesn't do that efficiently. Why Boston felt like they needed him is difficult to say. He has one more year left on his cheap rookie contract, just over $2M next season. For his brief career, he averages over 18 points per 36 minutes -- and shoots 40% from the field. Like I said, a chucker.
