In a moving first-person essay in the pages of Sports Illustrated, Washington Wizards 34 year-old center Jason Collins admits that he is a gay man.
Collins was moved to the admission by the recent Boston Marathon bombing. He says, ""Things can change in an instant, so why not live truthfully?"
Collins is of course, twin brother to former Clipper Jarron Collins. Jason kept his sexuality secret from everyone for most of his adult life, only admitting it to his twin brother last summer.
Collins is smart, brave, and admirable. I urge everyone to read the essay.
