Sterling battling cancer

According to a report published in the New York Post, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who on Tuesday received a lifetime ban from the NBA for racist comments that became public last week, has been battling prostate cancer for the last few years.

This doesn't change anything of course. It might help explain a bit why Sterling seemed to act as if he couldn't care less what other people thought or the consequences, but it doesn't justify his behavior. Do I feel more sympathy for him? I'm not happy that he has cancer -- no one deserves that. But it is what it is, and this news should not affect in any way the NBA's plans to oust him as an owner.

Speaking of which, the Advisory and Finance Committee of the NBA's Board of Governors met via conference call today and voted unanimously to proceed as expeditiously as possible with the process of forcing Sterling to sell the Clippers.
