There aren't many sweet shooters in this draft but C.J. Wilcox is one of them. He's an adept shooter both on the move and especially in spot-up situations. His value, primarily, is that as a spot-up shooter and shot maker on the wing that can also provide some defense. He's not a great athlete but he competes on both ends of the floor. As a shooter, you can't leave him and his value as an offensive player cannot be undersold at all. He suffered through some injury issues this past season but always went out there and competed.
For the Clippers, this is an interesting pick simply because he's able to knock down shots at a high rate. He has a good wingspan and can get his shot over most any defender. He gets the shot off really well. His defense is solid, not great, but he fits into what the Clippers want to do. He gives you prototypical shooting guard size. He's a good but not great athlete and competes. For a team that values shooting and has had some injury concerns in the backcourt, Wilcox fits. And he fits the Doc Rivers model of having a lot of shooters. It's a solid pick even though he's a bit on the older side. He plays here.
