Redick to shoot threes at All Star Weekend

Redick will compete against some of the best shooters in the league this season, including Kyle Korver and both Splash Brothers.

Although the official announcement is yet to come, Yahoo! is reporting that J.J. Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers will be in the field for the Three Point Shoot Out during All Star Weekend. It seems difficult to believe given Redick's reputation as a lights out shooter, but it is the first time that Redick will participate in the exhibition.

Redick will be shooting against the best of the best in the six man field, which includes both Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Kyle Korver, and Wesley Matthews. In fact, it looks as if the decision-makers sorted the list of three pointers made this season and started making phone calls. James Harden and Damian Lillard may well have demurred in favor of focusing on the game itself (though Lillard is not a lock), but other than those two, these are five of the top seven in total three pointers in the NBA this season.

Redick may be seventh in total makes, but his three point percentage this season (the best shooting of his career) compares favorably with anybody in the field. That is, except for Korver, who is just not human this season, making an absurd 53% of his deep balls. Among the known field, Thompson's percentage is next at 46%, followed by Redick at 44%, while Curry and Matthews are each a whisper under 40%.

In an exhibition like this, whoever gets on a roll is going to be the winner -- it's almost completely random. But this is the best group of shooters in years, and you can assume that there are going to be some incredible scores.
