Blake Griffin stars in latest Kia Optima spot

Griffin has taken on a variety of personas in his Kia spots through the years. In his first ad for the 2015-16 season, we find him in "The Zone".

With the NBA season nigh upon us, we've now officially reached the time of year for a new batch of glorious NBA commercials. The newest NBA on TNT spot featuring the likes of Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Billy Crystal has been making the rounds for the last week or so, and now we have our first Blake Griffin Kia ad of the 2015-16 season.

In the past, Griffin has been a part of Griffin Force, a time traveler and a daring fighter pilot, among other things. In this season's debut, we find Griffin in "The Zone", where he meets a random guy driving a Kia Optima. He seems to have ditched his iconic Griffin tracksuit, which is sad, in a way. There's a lot of subtlety and nuance to Griffin's comedic stylings, which has a way of making these commercials extra quirky. And weird. Definitely weird. Let's take a look:

Yep, pretty weird! We can understand why Griffin, a world class athlete, finds himself in the zone, but what's with the average Joe? Is he driving at such an exceptional level in his brand new Optima that he, too, can make his way into the zone? If Kia is responsible for putting you into the zone, shouldn't there be Kias flying around everywhere? There's something very George Costanza about all of this.

Keep doing you, Blake Griffin.
