Clippers will apparently bring Moreira to camp according to report

Angolan big Yanick Moreira will go from summer league to Clippers camp.

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

According to a report on Sportando.com, a web site that focuses on international basketball news, the Los Angeles Clippers have signed Angolan big man Yanick Moreira to a partially guaranteed contract. Moreira played five summer league games for the Clippers in Orlando where he averaged 9.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. He played college basketball at SMU producing averages of 11.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 24 minutes per game.

What does this mean? Not much beyond training camp, probably. The "partial guarantee" is probably very low, and while Moreira will definitely be in camp at this point, he'll still be a very long shot to make the opening day roster. He might not even have been the best big on the summer league team, where 7'2 Liam McMorrow played well also.

But Moreira is tall (6'11) and he's long and he did a very good job of protecting the rim in summer league. It may be his only NBA level skill, but it's an important one.
