Per Dan Woike of the Orange County Register, the Los Angeles Clippers will, for the third season in a row, have training camp outside of Los Angeles. This year, they will head about 45 minutes down interstate highway 5 (without traffic) to beautiful Orange County. To be more precise, they will hold training camp at UC Irvine.
There is a connection between the club and the Anteaters of UC Irvine. Last summer, coach Doc Rivers could be seen around campus, as he and his youngest son Spencer Rivers, visited the campus prior to Spencer picking UC Irvine to pursue a higher education while playing for coach Russell Turner. The younger Rivers red-shirted his freshman season, while the Anteaters qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.
Camp will open September 26 in preparation for their preseason debut on October 2. From there, the Clippers will embark on a mini world tour, with stops in Canada and China.
