With the trade of Josh Smith to the Houston Rockets today, the Clippers will fill his vacated roster spot with PF/C Jeff Ayres, Shams Charania has reported via Twitter:
The Los Angeles Clippers will sign center Jeff Ayres to a 10-day contract, league sources tell Yahoo. Ayres played for Idaho in D-League.

Ayres last played in the NBA last season with the San Antonio Spurs, so he comes with experience on a stable, title contending franchise. Last season he averaged 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds, while shooting 56% from the field in 51 apperances.
This season, Ayres has been a member of the Idaho Stampede of the D-League, where he has averaged 16.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Ayres will give the Clippers a more traditional big man option, something that was missing with the 3-point happy Josh Smith. He also brings NBA Championship experience to the team, having won a championship with the Spurs in 2014, playing in 71 games.
Here are some highlights from his recent game against the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Jan. 18:
