Today, Forbes released their list of the richest owners in American sports, and Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, who purchased the Clippers in 2014 for $2 billion, was named the richest, with a net worth of $27.5 billion. The next closest owner was Paul Allen, owner of the Portland Trailblazers, Seattle Seahawks of the NFL, and is also a part owner of the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer. Allen’s net worth is $18.9 billion, which means Ballmer is worth more than $8 billion more than his closest peer.
There has been talk about Ballmer’s commitment to this Clippers team, and that he wants to bring back Chris Paul and Blake Griffin once their contracts expire. With the kind of money he has, we know that finances won’t be what stops them from returning.
