Paul Pierce Points to Sports Illustrated Cover As When He Knew He’d Make It

In a new video for The Players’ Tribune, Paul Pierce discusses “when I knew about my NBA potential”. He describes being a star with dreams in high school, but not really having the confidence to believe that he could make it until he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated before his sophomore year of college.

After a disappointing season last year, his first with the Clippers, Pierce has found himself out of the rotation this season. While much of his athleticism has left him, the former NBA Finals MVP and future Hall of Famer is bringing leadership and experience to the Clippers this season.

It’s pretty cool to hear someone of his stature tell stories like this one.
