The Los Angeles Clippers recalled rookie Diamond Stone from the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday. He had been assigned there November 19th. Stone scored 31 points in his first D-League game on 12 of 22 shooting.
This call up comes at a time when Blake Griffin was given the night off and Paul Pierce started in his place. This was in response to being kicked in the right leg during the recent game against Detroit and the consequential swelling in his right calf.
Odds are Stone will see no floor time unless there is a blowout. But then again, if Paul Pierce continues to struggle from the field as he did in his start against the Nets (1 of 7 shooting, including 1 of 5 from behind the arc), perhaps Doc will be more willing to experiment.
