In Blake Griffin's absence, and in the aftermath of Josh Smith being traded away from the team, the Clippers signed Jeff Ayres to a pair of 10-day contracts. Rather than opting to keep Ayres for the rest of the season, the Clippers will now turn to D-League rebound leader Alex Stepheson.
Stepheson is a 28-year-old Los Angeles Native who has played 31 games with the Iowa Energy this season, averaging 16 points and 14 rebounds in 34 minutes a game. He probably won't see much time for the Clippers, but if he brings tenacity defensively and on the glass, he might stick with the team for the remainder of the year.
The Los Angeles Clippers are planning to sign D-League rebound leader Alex Stepheson to 10-day contract, league sources tell The Vertical.
