According to Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com, Paul Pierce did not travel with the Clippers to their game in Sacramento tonight for personal reasons. Pierce took over the starting PF role when Blake Griffin was injured in December and has started 26 games.
His individual play has been poor for most of the season, shooting just 34% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc, so this will be a nice opportunity basketball-wise for the Clippers' other options at the forward positions to get more run with the starting unit. Also, with Austin Rivers and Blake Griffin still out, this opens the door for C.J. Wilcox to again get some playing time with the second unit. Either Jeff Green or Wes Johnson should start in Pierce's place.
Hopefully Pierce's personal reason for missing tonight's game is nothing too major.
