Like every year since the Doc Rivers takeover, the Clippers will head East for summer league--to Orlando, where their prospects will take part in the earliest of the league's three summer leagues. The Orlando league runs from July 2nd-8th, and the Clippers will play 5 games in that span.
We have confirmation that the Clippers will have at least two undrafted free agents on their squad: Alex Hamilton from Louisiana Tech and Wes Washpun from University of Northern Iowa. Their team will also likely feature their three rookies from the 2016 NBA Draft: 25th pick Brice Johnson, 39th pick David Michineau, and 40th pick Diamond Stone. Branden Dawson, the 56th pick from the 2015 draft, will likely participate as well. I haven't heard yet if C.J. Wilcox will play or not.
The Clippers will fill out the rest of their summer league roster with undrafted free agents and fringe-level veterans--guys who have played in the NBA D-League or overseas leagues that want to make an impression on NBA teams over the summer. We'll have those details as soon as we can get our hands on them.
For now, here's their full schedule (I believe times are EST):
Day | Time | Opponent |
Saturday, July 2 | 5:00 pm | Miami Heat |
Sunday, July 3 | 5:00 pm | Oklahoma City Thunder |
Tuesday, July 5 | 3:00 pm | New York Knicks |
Thursday, July 7 | 3:00 pm | Orlando Magic (white)* |
Friday, July 8 | TBA** | TBA** |
*The Orlando Magic run two teams in their own league: white and blue.
**Each team's 5th game will be based on seeding. Top W-L records will determine seed with point differential as the tiebreaker.
