The Clippers were shut out of the All-Star game’s starting lineup. Chris Paul certainly belonged in the conversation with Russell Westbrook for a starting nod next to James Harden, but it’s understandable that Stephen Curry’s once-in-a-generation popularity carried the vote. Paul’s injury will keep him out of the game anyway, although he’s likely to be awarded an honorary spot before giving way to an injury replacement.
Blake Griffin will likely miss out on the Western altogether for the second straight season, given that he’s missed more than a third of the Clippers’ games.
DeAndre Jordan’s play provides him a strong argument for a reserve spot, but with other worthy candidates in Marc Gasol, DeMarcus Cousins, and Rudy Gobert, he may be left waiting for his first All-Star appearance, especially as coaches have tended not to stack their squads with true centers.
