The blows just keep coming for the L.A. Clippers.
Already without starting point guard Patrick Beverley for the rest of the season and starting small forward Danilo Gallinari for several weeks, fill-in starting guard Austin Rivers exited tonight’s game against the Lakers with an apparent right leg injury. After limping to the bench, he was helped to the locker room by team staff, putting no weight on his right leg. He appeared to grab at his ankle after twisting his leg.
Rivers briefly exited the game in the second quarter, but returned with a left elbow contusion. He had 13 points before his second injury.
The Clippers have faced an endless tide of injuries, with starters Blake Griffin and Milos Teodosic missing huge chunks of the season in addition to the almost total absence of Beverley and Gallinari from the lineup. Backup forward Wesley Johnson also missed a couple of weeks, making his return to the lineup tonight against the Lakers.
We’ll keep you updated on Austin’s status as the team releases information.
