Doc is a Midwesterner, having been born in Chicago and later attending Marquette University in Milwaukee. He has often spoken about his love for Chicago and his time playing basketball in the city as a young person, but he also has great pride in his alma mater.
While the Clippers were in Milwaukee, Doc stopped by Marquette to talk to the basketball team, for which he played three seasons.

I must admit that my first reaction to this picture was to laugh at Doc’s track suit, which says “Clippers” in small red letters on the left chest. My second reaction was to wonder what is in his hand -- I still can’t tell. Either way, I bet it was pretty cool for these players to hear from an NBA coach (even though he seems to be struggling at his job at the moment).
He had some thoughts on the team’s play, as well:
Doc Rivers says he has kept a close eye on Marquette hoops this year as usual. In his opinion, they've done enough to make the NCAAs. #mubb

And, finally, it looks like the basketball team wasn’t the only group that Doc met up with while he was in town:
Clippers coach Doc Rivers said he loved talking to Marquette players earlier Friday. "i had a Marquette reunion the last 2 days," Doc said.
