As the Clippers enter a critical off-season with the affiliated futures of Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, Blake Griffin, and Doc Rivers all up in the air, an expected and notable step occurred Monday when Blake Griffin underwent successful surgery to address his injury to the plantar plate of his right big toe. While the recovery time for this injury ranges anywhere from six to twelve weeks, the off-season should provide Blake with enough time for a full recovery before next season.

In the meantime, the chatter has already begun regarding Blake Griffin’s future with the Clippers. There are already some sports pundits arguing that the Clippers should move on from Blake Griffin. Other franchises will definitely salivate and fantasize about acquiring the productive power forward. Clippers fans meanwhile will hopefully look past Blake Griffin’s frustrating injuries and the overly worn out talking point regarding the Clippers’ frustrating playoff exits. It has been six consecutive seasons of playoff appearances for a Clippers franchise that once simply dreamed of being a consistent .500 team. How times have changed.
