The L.A. Clippers enter today’s 2017 NBA Draft without any selections of their own—the result of two past trades. One unfortunate deal cost the Clippers the 23rd selection in this year’s draft as they attempted to dump Jared Dudley’s contract. A later, more fruitful trade sent out the Clippers’ second round pick for Austin Rivers.

The Clippers reportedly attempted to pry the 4th pick from Phoenix, but were rebuffed. They have also been involved in talks with the Detroit Pistons, which could include the 12th overall pick. If the team does move DeAndre Jordan today, I expect that a high pick will be part of the return, either to be flipped for Paul George or used by the Clippers to add a young building block.
More likely, however, is that the team will buy one (or maybe even two) second round pick(s). Targets include Philadelphia (picks 1, 36, 39, 46, 50), Boston (3, 37, 53, 57), Phoenix (4, 32, 54), New York (8, 44, 58), Atlanta (19, 41, 60), Utah (24, 30, 42, 55), and Denver (13, 49, 51). The Clippers reportedly have a handful of targets who they will attempt to purchase a pick for and select as the second round goes on.
