As part of the blockbuster deal that will send Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets, the Clippers are also receiving backup center Montrezl Harrell. Harrell is one of a handful of throw-ins on the back end of this trade in order to make salaries match.
However, unlike the others throw-ins—non-guaranteed deals for fringe players the likes of Tim Quarterman, Ryan Kelly, and DeAndre Liggins—Harrell is a quality piece. He played 18 minutes a game for the Rockets last season, averaging 9 points and 4 rebounds. Notably, Harrell is also only 23 years old, joining Sam Dekker as young Rockets prospects heading to L.A.
