Chris Haynes of ESPN just reported that Raymond Felton has signed a 1 year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The salary on the deal is unknown right now, but it is unlikely to be high, as the Thunder don’t exactly have much to offer.
Edit: It has been confirmed on Twitter that the deal is for the veteran’s minimum: $2.3 million.
The Clippers don’t really need another point guard with Pat Beverley and Milos Teodosic on the roster (as well as rookie Jawun Evans, presumably on a two-way contract), but Felton still would have been an amazing get as a third string point guard. However, Ray was great as a backup for the Clips last year, so it’s not surprising he would want to play a similar role for another team.
Ray will now get to be a backup on another mid-top tier Western Conference team, this time on the Thunder behind Russell Westbrook. Good luck to Ray, who had one of the more memorable one-year stops in recent Clippers’ history.
Free agent Raymond Felton agrees to one-year deal with Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources tell ESPN.
