The excitement when the Clippers added Jerry West to their front office was fairly universal—while we didn’t know exactly what role he’d play or how prominent he’d be, it could only mean good things.
The Clippers got general praise for how the front office navigated the off-season, especially with the horrible hand that they were dealt with Chris Paul’s seemingly unavoidable departure. It’s unclear what share of the credit for those successes should go to which of the front office actors, but it’s fair to say that West played some sort of role in an effective summer.
Now, we’ve gotten a chance to see him at Clippers practice in training camp this week, working with Sam Dekker on his shooting. The video, from the Clippers’ official twitter, isn’t long enough to really tell what’s going on, but it’s certainly a great sign to see West, one of the greatest to ever play the game, working with a young Clipper on the court.
