Per Clippers PR, the Clippers have officially reached terms on a contract extension for coach Doc Rivers, who had just one year remaining on his contract..
Doc has been the head coach of the Clippers for five seasons, leading them to a 259-151 record, the fifth-best in the NBA during that time. After being the coach as well as president of basketball operations for his first four years, Doc stepped down to just be the coach last season, and put forth his best performance as a Clipper. He got his team to play hard almost every night, and the locker room came together as well. While the Clippers missed the playoffs, they had a fantastic year considering all the injuries they dealt with, and large credit for that has to go to Doc.
Doc is just a really good coach, and it made all the sense in the world for the Clippers to bring him back. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet, but I’m sure they will leak at some point in the coming weeks. Congrats Doc!
