This is my current ranking of (college) wing prospects for the Clippers who they might select in the 1st or early 2nd rounds. It will be broken down into players they might pick at 12 and 13, those they could trade down a few spots for, and those who they’d select if they moved into the late 1st or early 2nd rounds. If a player doesn’t make the subsequent lists, it’s not because I forgot about them, it’s because I think they’re very likely to be selected already by then.
The reason I divided the rankings like this as compared to the big men is that there are far more wings in this draft than bigs—there are only about eight big men who are likely to be drafted in the 1st round at all, compared to a vast pool of wings. I already discussed about a few wings who I thought were overrated or underrated by general consensus here, but this is my first overall look at the wing prospects in this class.
Players who I’d draft at 12/13:
1. Mikal Bridges (probably unavailable)
2. Miles Bridges (select him if he drops, unless someone even more surprising falls)
3. Zhaire Smith
4. Troy Brown
5. Michael Porter Jr (I just can’t trust players with herniated discs)
6. Khyri Thomas (no way he’s selected this high)
7. Lonnie Walker
Potential Picks if Clippers trade down to the mid-1st round:
1. Zhaire Smith (probably unavailable)
2. Troy Brown
3. Khyri Thomas
4. Lonnie Walker
5. Josh Okogie
6. Jacob Evans
7. Kevin Knox
Potential Picks in the late 1st to early 2nd rounds:
1. Khyri Thomas
2. Josh Okogie
3. Kevin Huerter
4. Bruce Brown
5. Chandler Hutchison
6. Kevin Hervey
7. Melvin Frazier
8. Grayson Allen
Closer to the draft I’ll probably have a more extensive list including players deeper into the second round, but for now I decided to just focus on the top few tiers of prospects. What do you all think? Is there someone you like a lot more than me? A lot less? Comment below!
