Upshaw had a four-year career at Middle Tennessee State, where he started 115 of his 140 career games and averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 49% from the field and 32.3% from deep. After going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft and not doing much with Milwaukee in last year’s summer league, he played in Europe last season.
As a member of Walter Tigers Turbingen in the German BBL, Upshaw started all 33 games he played in and averaged 30 minutes a game, scoring 14.4 points per game while averaging 6.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He shot 48% from the field and a notably improved 38% from deep on 138 attempts.
He’ll likely join a duo of Clipper lottery pick guards in rookies Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson, as well as undrafted free agent Angel Delgado and second-year players Jawun Evans and Sindarius Thornwell. Expect more summer league additions to trickle down the newswire in the coming days before the Clippers announce their full roster in advance of the Summer League beginning in early July.
