It was just announced that longtime Clippers broadcaster Ralph Lawler will receive the 2019 Curt Gowdy Media Award, and therefore be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame sometime from September 5-7. Having already been inducted into the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this is just another milestone award for the Clippers’ icon.
Ralph is retiring this year after 40 years with the franchise, having called well over 3,000 games for the club. Sadly, far too many of those were for losing, forgettable teams, but at least he’s going out high this season with the tough, well-rounded 2018-2019 squad.
Congrats to Ralph, who deserves this and more for what he’s given to the Clippers franchise and the NBA at large!
"Hall of Fame Broadcaster" Ralph Lawler has a pretty nice ring to it.
