The Clippers have waived newly-acquired forward Michael Beasley. Beasley came over in Thursday’s trade with the Los Angeles Lakers, which also sent Mike Muscala across the hall and brought Ivica Zubac to the Clippers.

Zubac was really the target of the trade for the Clippers, with taking on Beasley’s contract being the price they had to pay to acquire the young center. Beasley has a salary of $3.5 million for this season.
Now, LAC has an open roster spot that they can either utilize to add a player during buyout season, or convert Jonathan Motley’s two-way contract to a rest-of-season deal. If the Clippers pursue adding Motley to the 15-man roster, I expect they will attempt to negotiate a longer, team-friendly deal rather than a simple rest-of-season minimum deal.
