He would turn down more money to become a Clipper

The NBA offseason is off and running, and there appears to be a new rumor every hour. The latest rumor involves free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo and his apparent desire to join the Clippers.

Rondo showed during the NBA bubble he is more than capable of being an NBA point guard, but his time as a starting guard may be over. Luckily for the Clippers, they wouldn’t need him to start, as he’d be an excellent backup point guard off the bench.

It’s unclear as to how much interest the Clippers have in signing the 34-year-old, but it appears they’ll have a deal if they want him. Rondo has made nearly $100 million in his career, so at this point he seems content with passing up more money to play for a contender. It also doesn’t hurt that he won’t have to move from Los Angeles.

With Jrue Holiday, Chris Paul and Ricky Rubio all being traded in the last 48 hours, all the potential guard options for the Clippers seem to be gone. For the right price, Rondo could be a great addition for the team.
