The Big Picture

The Clippers are holding steady as the 2nd seed in the Western Conference, but have been unable to make up ground on the Lakers for that top spot. Despite the magnificence of Kawhi Leonard’s play of late, the Clippers as a whole haven’t been able to pick up much momentum due to their injuries. However, the Clippers last game was the second time all year that they had a clean injury list, and today should be the third. With all good luck, the Clippers will sustain a clean bill of health into the All Star Break, even if their roster might be a bit different after the trade deadline on Thursday.

The Antagonist

The Spurs haven’t been very good this year, but are still hanging around the playoff race due to the weakness of the bottom of the Western Conference. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge have renewed their play lately, spurred by Aldridge’s increased shooting from deep. Aldridge being willing to take more threes has opened the court for the Spurs in general and DeRozan in particular, and allowed DeMar to unleash some of his hard drives to the basket. The Spurs still aren’t great, but they’re a solid enough team, and their improved play means they’re a greater threat to actually put up points efficiently.
