The man, the myth, the legend

In the history of the franchise, 11 players have worn No. 33 for the Clippers. The first was George Wilson back in 1971, and the most recent was Wesley Johnson, who wore it from 2015 through 2018.

We’re going to keep it there, as Johnson (*takes deep breath*) is the best Clipper to ever wear No. 33. Now, if we’re talking about the best player in NBA history that wore it with the Clippers, that honor would go to Grant Hill, who wore it back in 2013. Unfortunately, Hill only played in 29 games that season and averaged three points.

Johnson came to the Clippers in the offseason of 2015 after spending two seasons down the hall with the Lakers. He played in 80 games his first year, starting in only nine of them. He averaged seven points, three rebounds and a steal per game. His best game that season came on December 5 versus the Magic when he had 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

This would be his best season, as his numbers took a hit the next two seasons. He’d play in 142 total games, and became a starter in 2017-2018. During his final season with LA, Johnson started 40 games.

He did drop 24 points in a contest against the Hawks in 2017, knocking down six from deep.

On October 15, 2018, Johnson was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans.
