Phil Smith had a brief one-and-a-half year tenure with the San Diego Clippers, but it was enough to have him this high on the list. After six solid seasons with the Warriors, Smith was traded to San Diego in exchange for World B. Free.

He appeared in 76 games, averaging over 31 minutes per game. Smith averaged 17 points and five assists a game, all while shooting just under 50 percent from the field. Over the course of the final three months of the season, Smith was averaging nearly 20 points a game. He scored at least 20 points 29 times. In addition, he also had 32 games in which he had at least five assists.

The following season, Smith appeared in 48 games with the Clippers before being traded to the Seattle SuperSonics. His scoring went down, as he averaged 13 points a game on 44 percent shooting.
