The NBA resumes in Orlando in just over a month, and the Clippers are right there with the Lakers in regards to being the favorites to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals. Should the Clippers reach their first ever Finals, who would they likely play.
I think it’s safe to assume who is going to represent the Eastern Conference, but with this never-before-seen style of NBA playoffs, who knows what can happen. DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a Name the Finalists market for each team and their potential NBA Finals matchups. Let’s take a look at all the odds offered for the Clippers.
Clippers vs. Bucks: +350
Clippers vs. Celtics: +2000
Clippers vs. Raptors: +2000
Clippers vs. 76ers: +2700
Clippers vs. Heat: +2700
Clippers vs. Pacers: +9000
Clippers vs. Magic: +25000
Clippers vs. Nets: +25000
To no surprise, the Bucks has the best odds. Overall, it’s the second best odds behind a potential Lakers/Bucks matchup.
Playing the Bucks would definitely be the toughest matchup for the Clips, as they were easily the best team in the NBA all season. MIlwaukee was 2-0 against LA this season, defeating the Clippers in LA 129-124 back in early November and beating them by nearly 30 in MIlwaukee back in December.
Again, a matchup with the Bucks would be difficult, but in order to be the best, you have to beat the best, right?
The next best odds are two really interesting matchups. The Clippers and Celtics tied the season series at one win a piece, and they offered two of the more exciting games from the regular season. In the first matchup, the Clippers got the 107-104 victory in overtime at Staples Center. As if that game wasn’t thrilling enough, the following game took two overtimes to determine a winner, as the Celtics came out victorious in Boston in two overtimes.
Playing the Raptors would be fun, as it would be against Kawhi Leonard’s former team. Sadly, we couldn’t see the games played in Toronto where seeing the reaction from fans would be interesting. The Raptors exceeded expectations this season, but the Clippers still won both matchups.
I think that those three are the most likely matchups. Again, with how this new format and setting will be, we might see more upsets than ever before since it’s an even playing field. I guess we’ll just find out in a month!
