The Minnesota Timberwolves’ start hasn’t come as much of a surprise to most NBA fans. While it has been impressive, it doesn’t appear to be a shock to anyone in the NBA world.
There have been plenty of other surprises to go around this year. According to the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey, the Raptors’ slow start – along with the hot starts by the Suns, Hornets and Knicks – were considered the biggest surprises so far.

Those teams starts are due in large part to the play of a few young stars, including LaMelo Ball, Julius Randle and Tyrese Haliburton. Those players all popped up when fans were asked which players have been the biggest surprises so far.

Among the Clippers, the main surprise around the NBA has been veteran newcomer Nicolas Batum. From being considered a player well past his best with the then-moribund Hornets, Batum has started his tenure in LA with a key role, setting the tempo in the 1st quarter each night before the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George take over the game.
If you want to see more Clippers stuff included in SB Nation Reacts each week, we need Clippers fans to jump into the fray. You can not only give your input on the NBA at large, but weigh in on how you think the Clippers are doing each week.
